James Robinson is Leonard D. Schaeffer Professor of Health Economics at the University of California at Berkeley. At Berkeley, Professor Robinson chairs the Division of Health Policy and Management (HPM) and teaches health economics and innovation policy, focusing on the hospital, insurance, biotechnology, and medical device sectors. He has published three books and over 150 papers in scientific and policy journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, and Health Affairs. Professor Robinson is an advisor for health technology startups affiliated with the Berkeley Skydeck innovation accelerator and frequent invited conference speaker on topics related to his research activities. He speaks French, German, and Italian in addition to his native English.
