Maurice Smith

Mr. Smith leads the company’s overall strategic direction including the organization’s long-term growth strategy. He previously served as president of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois where he was responsible for the overall financial performance, long-term growth strategy and strategic planning of Illinois’ largest health insurance company. Since beginning his career as an intern at HCSC in 1993, he has held a number of executive roles with increasing responsibility. He also served as the chairman of the board of directors for Dearborn National Life Insurance Company, a subsidiary of HCSC. Mr. Smith holds an MBA from Pepperdine University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Roosevelt University.
