Teen Mental Health: Supporting Schools and Expanding Resources

February 24, 2020 | 03:00 PM
04:30 PM ET

Rates of mental illness and suicide have risen markedly among teens in recent years, as has substance use. Given the importance of early screening and access to resources, leaders are working with schools and taking new approaches to get teens help when they need it most.

This webinar explored:

  • How schools are a primary provider of mental health services for teens and present an opportunity for wide-scale intervention
  • Recent data trends showing a reduction in teen illicit drug use but an increase in teen suicide deaths and vaping
  • Best practices from a multi-state learning collaborative working to increase access to Medicaid services in schools including mental health services
  • How public and private partners are working to make mental health accessible in schools by providing school staff with trainings, online resources and continued support from trained coaches
