Summary of the Project:

Meaningful accountability in health care reporting relies on a strong foundation of data-driven analysis and human stories that bring policy to life. This Data Fellowship provides essential training for journalists and newsrooms to produce major explanatory and investigative reporting on key issues in the US health care system. The NIHCM-supported cohort will focus on affordability, health care delivery, and chronic disease management.

USC Annenberg Center for Health Journalism is an organization dedicated to fostering great health and medical coverage. The Center for Health Journalism helps journalists translate policy topics into engaging stories that resonate with policymakers and community members through its intensive Fellowships and collaboratives, which served 100 journalists a year in 2025 in intensive six month to one year programs, and through its webinars, original columns and essays on centerforhealthjournalism.org.
