Adam Boehler, Melinda Buntin & Steve Parente Join NIHCM’s Advisory Board
Washington, DC - May 14, 2026 – Today, NIHCM announced the appointment of three new Advisory Board members: Adam Boehler, Melinda Buntin, and Steve Parente. Their experience and unique perspectives will further enrich our Advisory Board and advance our work to improve health care through evidence and collaboration.
“Adam, Melinda, and Steve bring an exceptional combination of expertise in health care innovation, policy, and public service,” said Andrew Dreyfus, President and CEO of NIHCM. “Their leadership across academia, entrepreneurship, and government will strengthen NIHCM’s work to inform evidence-based policy and solutions-oriented approaches to improving the US health care system.”
- Adam Boehler has nearly 20 years of experience driving entrepreneurship and innovation in the private sector and in the US government. He is the founder of Rubicon, which he launched to transform health care delivery in America, and previously founded Landmark Health, a company that delivers around-the-clock medical care to chronically ill patients. Adam has served in several senior government roles, including Director of the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, founding member of Operation Warp Speed, first CEO of the US International Development Finance Corporation, and negotiator of the Abraham Accords.
- Melinda Buntin, PhD, is a health economist and Bloomberg Distinguished Professor at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, where she directs the Center for Health Systems and Policy Modeling. Melinda served as founding Chair of the Department of Health Policy at Vanderbilt University, Director of the Office of Economic Analysis, Evaluation, and Modeling at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology at the US Department of Health and Human Services, and Director in the Health, Retirement, and Long-Term Analysis group at the Congressional Budget Office.
- Steve Parente, PhD, MPH, MS, is the Minnesota Insurance Industry Chair of Health Finance at the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota and Associate Dean of the Carlson Global Institute. Steve is a nationally recognized expert in health economics, health insurance, and price transparency, and is the founding director of the Medical Valuation Laboratory, a nine-college interdisciplinary effort to accelerate medical innovation. He served in senior government roles as Chief Economist for Health Policy at the White House Council of Economic Advisers, Senior Adviser to the Secretary for Health Economics at the US Department of Health and Human Services, and adviser to the Congressional Budget Office.
They join an experienced group of health care experts on the Foundation's Advisory Board:
