Announcing the Finalists for the 2022 NIHCM Awards in Journalism and Research

Washington, D.C., March 15, 2022 - The NIHCM Foundation is delighted to announce the finalists for the 2022 NIHCM Awards in Journalism and Research. This year’s entries highlight journalists’ growing commitment to community-focused reporting, combating misinformation, and increasing understanding of the multifaceted health questions of our time. Our research finalists excel at providing new evidence that is sure to strengthen our health care system, inform policy, and improve health outcomes.

“In keeping with the 28-year tradition of our awards, this year’s finalists have advanced our understanding of critical current issues. Our journalism finalists conducted extensive explorations of climate change, our mental health in the wake of COVID-19, and the pressing need to achieve health equity. Our research finalists produced novel investigations into the importance of Medicaid, the quality of care received in our hospitals, and trends influencing our health care marketplace,” said Nancy Chockley, Founding President and CEO of NIHCM.

The NIHCM Foundation’s independent panels of judges reviewed nearly 400 total entries this year to select 45 finalists. The winning entry in each category will receive a $15,000 to $20,000 cash prize. The winners will be announced in April.
