Finalists Selected: The 2026 NIHCM Awards in Health Care Journalism and Policy Research

Washington, DC March 31, 2026 – NIHCM today announced the finalists for the 32nd Annual NIHCM Awards, recognizing excellence in health care journalism and policy research.

“Through robust policy research and in-depth reporting, this year’s finalists have produced critical insights into the forces driving health care costs, the challenges and opportunities in expanding access to care, and the factors shaping quality across the system,” said Andrew Dreyfus, CEO and President of the NIHCM Foundation. “These stories and studies represent the best of health care journalism and policy research – work that brings to light important stories and strengthens the evidence base on the nation’s most pressing health care challenges. We are proud to celebrate the finalists’ achievements and recognize the vital role their work plays in shaping the health care conversation in the US.”

The NIHCM Foundation’s independent panels of judges selected 42 finalists from a competitive field of over 320 entries. The winning entry in each category will receive a $15,000 to $20,000 cash prize. The winners will be announced in late April 2026.

The NIHCM Foundation is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to transforming health care through evidence and collaboration.
