Investing in a Healthier America: Health Plan and Community Partnerships
Time & Location
Event Materials
The current generation of children may be the first in U.S. history to live shorter, sicker lives than their parents. Already, more than half of Americans have at least one chronic disease. The majority of these conditions are preventable, but the scale of the problem necessitates interventions beyond the walls of the doctor’s office. Community-based prevention programs, amplified by support from both the public and private sectors, are a critical part of the push to achieve a healthier America.
This webinar will highlight ways health plans and communities can work together to support healthy lifestyles. Speakers will discuss the following:
- high-impact prevention strategies, such as integrating public health into new health care delivery and payment models
- the Blue Zones Project in Iowa, which aims to make healthy choices easier through environmental changes and social support on a local level
- a public-private partnership that has improved access to fresh produce by expanding community gardens to every county in North Carolina
