A slew of Republican-controlled states are pursuing Medicaid waivers to introduce measures like premiums and work requirements to the program, and the Trump administration has told states to expect “more freedom to design programs that meet the spectrum of diverse needs of their Medicaid population.” Section 1115 Medicaid demonstration waivers have been available to states since the Medicaid program began, but each administration takes its own approach to assessing waiver requests.

Speakers on this webinar will discuss:

  • when precedent-setting decisions from the administration are expected on several state proposals
  • the kinds of flexibility states have asked for and are likely to ask for in the coming months and years
  • how these changes may affect Medicaid beneficiaries and state budgets
  • the likelihood of CMS allowing states to use Medicaid funds to subsidize marketplace coverage, and how this would impact coverage

This webinar is a project of the Alliance for Health Policy and NIHCM Foundation, in collaboration with the Association of Health Care Journalists.
