The Aging US Population: Managing Health and Costs Through Medicare Advantage Strategies
Time & Location
By 2050, nearly one in four Americans will be 65 or older, placing an unprecedented strain on Medicare and the broader health care delivery system. Much of the growing financial pressure stems from the increasing prevalence of chronic diseases in older people, including diabetes, heart disease, and dementia, which require ongoing, resource-intensive care. This webinar examined trends related to the aging population and shared strategies implemented by Medicare Advantage organizations for supporting the health of older adults while managing the cost of care.
Speakers discussed:
- An overview of the aging population, including projected growth, chronic disease burden, and rising health care spending.
- Research demonstrating how Medicare Advantage has lowered costs for the Medicare program overall, as well as how Elevance Health’s supplemental benefits have improved health outcomes, especially for members with chronic conditions.
- How Independence Blue Cross is improving care, supporting its aging members and their caregivers, and reducing health care costs, including through value-based approaches.
