Eliza Barclay Joins NIHCM Awards Judges Panel

Washington, D.C., January 17, 2020 – Eliza Barclay, the Science and Health Editor at Vox.com has joined the judges panel of NIHCM Foundation's Health Care Research and Journalism Awards.

Established in 1993, the NIHCM Awards recognize the tremendous contributions of researchers and journalists whose work catalyzes positive change in American health care. Winners are selected by independent panels of present and former journalists, researchers and health care leaders.

"Throughout the 26-year history of the NIHCM Awards, we have relied on our expert judges to select the best work from a competitive pool. We are pleased to welcome Eliza as she brings extensive editorial experience to our prestigious panel," said Nancy Chockley, Founding President and CEO of NIHCM.

Prior to joining Vox.com, Ms. Eliza Barclay covered food, health and science for NPR on the web and on the air and was co-editor of NPR's food vertical, The Salt. Her writing has appeared in numerous outlets including The Atlantic, The New York Times, The Washington Post and FORTUNE, among others. She was a 2019 NIHCM Awards finalist and has received many distinguished prizes for her work, including a James Beard Award, a Gracie Award and an Association of Food Journalists Award.

Ms. Barclay will serve as a judge for NIHCM's Print Journalism Awards. She joins Dr. Karen DeSalvo and Dr. Aaron E. Carroll as new members of the judges panel for the 2020 NIHCM Awards.
