Prioritizing Super Spenders: Coverage and Care for High-Need Patients
Time & Location
In the U.S., half of all health spending goes to care for just 5 percent of patients. Any effort to improve the efficiency of our health care dollars must prioritize those patients who spend the most. But high-spending patients aren’t a single population; they can be facing advanced illness, chronic conditions or intense but temporary health problems. To be effective, strategies targeting high-cost, high-need patients must be as diverse as the patients themselves.
Speakers on this webinar covered the following:
- The latest taxonomy of high spenders and models for high-value care that could be effective for each group
- Tactics for identifying high-cost patients and channeling them to value-based care initiatives
- Use of alternative care settings, such as home-based care, that can improve outcomes and lower costs
- The future of value-based payment in Medicare
